The Soprano Christine Schäfer exquisitely sings extracts from Alban Berg’s Lulu, her signature role, and is also featured in sublime vocal settings by Claude Debussy. Conducting one of the finest American orchestras, Boulez gives Stravinsky's first full-length ballet, The Firebird, an electrifyingly fast reading. After decades of fruitful collaboration with the Symphony Orchestra, the eighty year old has just been appointed Conductor Emeritus of the famous orchestra.
