Duruflé: Requiem - King's College Choir, Stephen Cleobury
King College’s previous Requiem recording, that of Faure’s Requiem, was the best selling classical album of 2014, and was praised by Choir & Organ Magazine, Gramophone, The Times, and International Record Review.
This new recording features another great French Requiem- Maurice Durufle’s 1947 work, in the composer’s original version. The release also includes Durufle’s Four Motets and his Messe Cum Jubilo.
This recording is the last time the famous organ at King’s was played before it was removed for extensive restoration. The current form of the instrument dates from the early 20th century, but parts of the instrument date back to the early 1600s.
