Bruckner: Symphony No.8 - World Philharmonic Orchestra, Carlo Maria Giulini

$ 9.99 $ 15.99

The World Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the most remarkable ensembles in the world. It was founded by the United Nations and the United Nations Children's Fund, and brings together the finest musicians – principals and instrumental soloists – from all five continents. The players meet once a year bearing witness to peaceful coexistence amongst mankind through the means of the most universal of all languages – music. The present recording was made at the orchestra's inaugural concert in Stockholm in 1985 and features Bruckner's Eighth Symphony conducted by one of the composer's leading interpreters, Carlo Maria Giulini (1914-2005). Considered one of the most distinguished symphonic conductors of the 20th Century and held in high esteem by orchestral players and critics alike, he was also renowned for his expressionist conducting style, which is especially suited to Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 8 (the “Apocalyptic”) and is beautifully captured on this recording of the work.
